Did you know that the smallest national park of Spain
is located along the Costa Blanca?
Yes, not talking about the largest, but the smallest one.
The 800 hectare of pine wood forest, just behind the beach
of Guardamar del Segura, is widely known for its “Dunes of
Guardamar” in the National Park.
These dunes are what makes the city of Guardamar del Segura so wonderful
and very impressive to the first time visitor. Together with it’s
other park called “Reina Sophia“, Guardamar is highly recommended for
those of you who will be spending your holidays around Torrevieja and the
southern Costa Blanca area.
If you want to enjoy a nice walk through these lovely and relaxing parks,
followed by a sunny day at one of the 11 kilometers of sandy beaches,
then you should consider Guardamar del Segura.
Have a look at our short Guardamar video and enjoy the fantastic
contrast between the dunes and the pine wood forest:
One final tip: If you can make it to Guardamar, get up the hill behind
the city and visit the ruins of the former castle. The ruins are not
that much to see, but the view is just breathtaking. You should be
able to see as far as Alicante to the north and Torrevieja to the south.
